Cal Snap – Privacy Policy

Cal Snap ("the app") is a photo-first calorie and nutrition tracking app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. The short version: your data stays on your device.

1. Data we do not collect

Cal Snap has no user accounts and no analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not collect, store, or sell personal data on our servers. We do not track you across apps or websites.

2. Data stored on your device

Everything you log — meals, photos, weight, water intake, goals, and settings — is stored locally on your device. Deleting the app (or using Settings → Delete data inside the app) permanently removes this data. We have no copy of it.

3. Camera and photos

The camera is used only to photograph meals, scan barcodes, and scan nutrition labels, at your request. Meal photos you choose to analyze with AI are processed as described in section 4; all other photos remain on your device.

4. Third-party services

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — when you use AI meal recognition, and only after you have given your consent in the app, the meal photo you take is sent securely to Anthropic's Claude API to identify the foods on your plate. Photos are sent without your name, email or any identifier, are not stored by us, and Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. If you decline, you can still use barcode scanning, food search and manual logging.
• Open Food Facts — when you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to the Open Food Facts database to look up nutrition data. No personal information is included in these requests.
• Apple App Store — subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. See Apple's privacy policy for details.

5. Health disclaimer

Cal Snap is a wellness and lifestyle tool, not a medical device. Calorie and nutrition values are estimates. Always consult a qualified professional before making significant dietary changes.

6. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country).

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
